This is a little off base for me and this website, but I just wanted to let you know about the EASY way to get Vista to work for you! What do I mean? I mean that horrible ‘nag’ that you get when you’re trying to use YOUR computer the way YOU want to and Vista won’t allow you to. It’s when you get the message:
“You Need Administrator Privileges To Make This Change” or something similar.
I tried to figure out how to fix this, so looked online and saw DOZENS of super-complicated ways to address this issue, but they were ALL either too complex or they simply didn’t work.
When I first had this problem, Vista was only about a month old. The problem is that when you want to change certain settings, the Vista operating system thinks that you should not do so…..for your own security! Well, I don’t like being “Nannied” so here’s the fix if ever you get the error message:
Go to: Micrsoft Button (bottom left of your screen, used to be the ’start’), Control Panel, User Accounts
In ‘User Accounts’ find ‘Turn User Account Control On Or Off’. Click this. Then you’ll get a message:
“Windows Needs Your Permission To Continue”. Click ‘Continue’. Then you’ll see a window saying:
“Turn On User Account Control (UAC) To Make Your Computer More Secure”.
The check-box at the bottom of this window is ALREADY checked, because THAT is the default setting.
UN-CHECK this box, then click ‘OK’.
Done! This will stop those nasty nags when you’re trying to change a setting or install a plug-in.
One word of warning; once you’ve installed the plug-in or made the change, turn the UAC back ON.
Making Money online really can be quite simple, BUT you SHOULD be able to use your computer how YOU want to, and Vista (though much more secure than XP or 2000) doesn’t always let you.
This little fix should help you have more control over your computer.
