Writers Block
In your efforts to make money online with blogging, you may well hit a brick wall, often known as “writers block”. This is simply when you can’t think of anything new or original to write about. If this has happened to you, please read on.
Where To Get Ideas
Your own HEAD is the best place, but sometimes all you need is a memory jogger. There is LOTS of information in your head, but accessing it isn’t always easy. Ever said to somebody “it’s on the tip of my tongue”? Well, it simply means that a “tag” that reminds you of a complete story, fact, detail, event, book etc. is missing.
How To Find Those Tags
Here are four easy ways to access those ideas already inside your mind:
1. Books
That is, YOUR OWN ebooks. If you haven’t looked at your own books for good while, now is the time to revisit them. Just because you wrote it years ago doesn’t mean that the information is out of date. Even if it IS out of date, then a great idea would be to write about WHAT’S CHANGED.
2. Blog Posts
Again, you’ve already written posts, so now is the time to revisit them and see if you can improve or update them.
3. Forums
What forums have you commented on? Look at what other people said on those forums and write about that.
4. Newsletters
If you have old newsletters, look at those again. Do you still agree with what you said two years ago, or have you reevaluated things?
Other People’s Information
Once you’ve done that excercise (which is probably enough to keep you going for a few YEARS), how about other people’s book, blog posts and newsletters? No, I don’t mean COPY what they have said, I mean, you can write a similar version of their information but make it more easily understood. After all, a lot of people know a huge amount about certain things, but can’t necessarily TEACH it to others. You can fill that gap for them.
Disagree
Also, think about if you agree with something that others have written about. Just because somebody says something doesn’t make it factual (READ HERE FOR MORE). You could EASILY disagree with what you read, and then tell your readers what YOU think about the subject.
Devil’s Advocat
Finally, you could always disagree with everybody, INCLUDING YOURSELF, and try to see if you get ANY response, or if they agree with you. Even if they don’t, that’s okay, because they can leave comments on your posts and add value (and the all important CONTENT) to your blog.
