Just a quick technical issue today, about Mozilla Firefox bookmarks.
The Problem
Like many people, I maintain two computers, mainly as a backup should one ever have any “issues”, like a computer virus or a hardware crash. Often, I find a site that I like and want to refer back to, so I bookmark it. Rather than have tow computers running simultaneously, I use one most of the time, and update the other with programs and of course, my firefox bookmarks.
You’d expect to be able to simply go to ‘Bookmarks’/Organize Bookmarks and then select and “right click/delete” them, but this isn’t possible in Firefox 3. Before you do anything, make a backup html file of the bookmarks in your main computer (Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks/Import and Backup). Click the ‘Backup’ to save an HTML file, preferably to a Flash thumb-drive device.
What To Do
Instead, here is what you have to do:
1. Click ‘Start’
2. Click ‘All programs’
3. Find your Mozilla folder
4. Click it open
5. Select ‘Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)
You’ll see this box appear:

7. Select ‘Reset bookmarks to Firefox defaults’
8. Click ‘Make Changes and Restart’
What Then?
This resets (and therefore removes) your bookmarks. Then it’s simply a matter of going to ‘Bookmarks/Organize bookmarks/Import and Backup’ and finally ‘Import HTML’, which will be waiting on your Flash thumb-drive.
It’s allways a good idea to keep bookmarks on a flash drive anyway, so you you travel with it and have access to all your favorite sites when you’re on somebody else’s computer.
Hope this helps.
Luke.
If this helped you, please feel free to buy me a cup of coffee.......leaded of course!!!
