Optimizing Your Blog For People
Now that you’ve optimized your wordpress blog for the search-engines, you need to think about doing the same for people. You see, search-engines have very different “eyes” than people; they read code even better than my friend Cenay Nailor (if that’s possible!).
What Plugins Will Help Your Visitors?
Again, a simple and practical way to optimize your blog for people is with plugins. Here are the plugins that I recommend you install (and there are thousands to choose from, many doing similar jobs).
This plugin will send an email to the readers that leave comments, to remind them to go back to your blog to read what others have said. A great way to build readership loyalty.
This creates a link at the bottom of any comments left BACK to the commentor’s own blog. In this way, people are encouraged to leave comments regularly because they know they will get links to their own blogs.
This plugin ads a series of icons that link directly to many of the social networks, like Twitter and StumbleUpon etc. It makes your blog look better and also makes it easy for your readers to let THEIR network of people know about your blog. It also allows them to bookmark your site more easily.
This allows you and your readers to easily comments and continue a “thread” of conversation. Without this, your readers would have a very difficult time trying to maintain an ongoing dialogue.
