Which One Is Dominant?
This may seem like a strange subject for anyone who wants to make money on the internet, but let me explain the theory. You can either have natural talent for something, or you simply have a high intelligence, and this would be considered the ‘Nature’ part of the equation. The other side of the argument is that you can learn something, which would be the ‘Nurture’ part.
There are literally thousands of books on this subject, some of which I have read. Don’t panic, this isn’t a synopsis of any of them, honestly. What I’m sharing with you is simple observation; observation of people over my many years of life. The fact is, in MOST CASES, neither one is dominant over the other.
Which Means What?
This means that in just about every case, you can NURTURE yourself to be able to learn just about anything! Will you learn it as quickly as somebody who has a NATURAL talent for it? No, but you STILL CAN learn just about anything.
In fact, one of the main reasons that most people DON’T learn things is because they don’t believe they can, so they don’t even try. I’m here to tell those people that this is entirely not true.
For the most part, I’m referring to NON-PHYSICAL aspects; for example, it’s quite unlikely that somebody with certain physical attributes (or lack thereof) will ever become a super-model or an Olympic athlete. No, rather, this is about your MIND.
An Analogy
Let me compare your brain with a computer which is about all it is anyway (with the addition of a whole mess of emotions). Say we have two laptops; one was made 5 years ago (eons in terms of computers!) and the other is brand new.
The old one has a 1GHz processor, a 20Gb hard drive and a mere 286Mb of RAM memory. The new one has a 2GHz quad-core processor, 250Gb hard drive and 4Gb of RAM memory. Wow, some difference huh!? (and the new one would cost LESS than the old one did, but that’s another story!).
Which One Is Best?
It’s quite obvious that the new one is FAR BETTER, right? It has a much faster processor, a huge hard drive, and the RAM memory is 16 times larger than the old laptop. That’s the NATURE part; that’s the way the laptop IS already; that’s the way it’s built.
Well, you’d be wrong.
The new laptop isn’t NECESSARILY better than the old one, just because Nature (in this case hundreds of designers, engineers and factory workers) made it that way.
Why The Old One Can Be Better
The older laptop was ALSO made the way that it is (techies, don’t get onto me about upgrading the RAM PLEASE!!!). However, let’s take the analogy one step further. Let’s say that the software (the PROGRAMS) that I put onto the new laptop were designed ten years ago. IF the laptop would even run them, it would be running some pretty outdated software, software, that might not be able to do very much, even on this great new machine.
What then, if I put some really cool new software onto the OLD laptop? Even if it DID run slower and less efficiently that the new laptop, it would star OUT PERFORM the new one, BECAUSE OF ITS SUPERIOR programs.
Which Means…….
What this is that regardless of YOUR age and your CURRENT abilities, you can ALWAYS out perform other people IF you have the right programs inside your head!
This is great news for just about anybody.
People CANNOT Be Taught
My wife taught me a very valuable lesson one day (she has her Doctorate in Education and, more importantly, DECADES of experience). She told me that people can NEVER be taught. Yes, they can learn from being shown, but in effect THEY TEACH THEMSELVES.
They do this by asking questions and then practicing what they have TAUGHT THEMSELVES. Whenever somebody asks a question, they are doing nothing more than trying to fill a gap in their understanding of something.
This is an unusual concept, but I’ve experienced it many times myself. When do I learn something? Whenever I CHOOSE to learn it. Think about yourself; has somebody ever managed to teach you something that you didn’t want to learn? Absolutely not! It would be like trying to force toothpaste back into its tube. And to REALLY overdo this analogy, you CAN get the toothpaste back, by making the TUBE SUCK it back in. (Okay, so that IS overdoing the analogy a bit!!!).
Okay, the upshot is, you can learn just about ANYTHING. Learning IS a lifelong process. So, if you want to become an internet marketer……..Here’s a good place to start.
Luke.
If this helped you, please feel free to buy me a cup of coffee.......leaded of course!!!
