What’s So Special About Susan Boyle?

Who IS Susan Boyle?

England has its own version of America’s Got Talent, and a few weeks ago, two of the entertainment industries nastiest “talent scouts” (Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan) were BLOWN AWAY by a 47 year old woman from Scotland.

She went onto the show as the ultimate underdog.  Unmarried (not that THAT means anything) and openly admitting that she’s “never been kissed”, Susan stood on stage in front of thousands of audience members and millions of TV viewers and made two of the best-known bullies EAT THEIR WORDS.

What’s So Special About Susan?

She sang ‘I Dream A Dream’ from the musical ‘Les Miserables’.  Her rendition was so stunning that the audience and the the judges were shocked into silence……..for a while at least, after which they all broke into unfettered applause.

When she’d finished her song, the three judges had nothing but praise for her.  However, having a good voice AND the courage to stand in front of millions of viewers and at least two harsh judges is NOT what makes Susan Boyle special (though I commend her thoroughly for having the gumption to do it).

She is special because she is REALLY FOLLOWING HER DREAM.

Follow YOUR Dream

Now, her dream isn’t really a big one.  In the video (available below) you’ll see that she says that she wants to be a singer like Elaine Page. WHO is Elaine Page?  Well, she was the lead singer in the original version of the musical CATS in London, England, who went on to have an extremely average singing career.

Though Susan Boyle’s dream really wasn’t that grand, she HAD A DREAM and she is bringing it into REALITY.

Now reality simply scares most people to death (well, almost to death) but for those special few (a few thousand really) who have the ability to keep-on aiming for their goals, making dreams come true is truly magical.

How To Turn A Dream Into Reality

There are hundreds of books and thousands of articles on how people move themselves towards their goals, but it really always comes down to this: you don’t let yourself be distracted EVER and you ALWAYS keep an eye on your target.

While this may sound a little trite, or even glib, it really IS the essence of it all.  EVERY man-made thing starts as an IDEA (a thought, a concept, a dream) and that includes lifestyles and careers.  Without these initial thoughts NOTHING would ever happen.

Concentrate on what YOU want from YOUR life.  Picture it how you want it to be in 12 months time, then, keeping your eye on that target, just be persistent.  NOTHING can overcome persistence.
