You Need Somebody To Love
Enjoy this nice song.
Part of being human is to want to be loved (i.e. needed AND wanted), we also want to love others. The rule is, don’t love too many people simultaneously, otherwise you may end up divorced! (kidding).
Somebody To Love Me
No, not ME, YOU! Okay, I’ve got somebody to love me and I adore her, however, this is about YOU. Now I don’t know if you have anybody to love you, I hope you do. This though, is really about people LIKING YOU!
Another, quite apparent, fact of life is that not EVERYBODY is going to like you! This shouldn’t come as any surprise. Why? Because I can guarantee you that there are plenty of people that YOU don’t like.
Like?
Did you ever consider what “liking” somebody means? It mean you feel that you are LIKE them. That’s ALL it means. So, if you want people to like you, the easiest way to do this is to demonstrate to them that YOU are like THEM.
This is a good thing to know, however, there ARE limitations to its power.
Faking It
No, not THAT!! (get your mind out of the gutter and read on). You CAN fake the fact that you are like somebody; excellent sales people know this………….and so do politicians (what do you mean it’s the same thing?).
There is, however, a point at which you CANNOT fake your similarities, and at which you SHOULD not. When people have completely different outlooks on life, due probably to their upbringing (sad but factual) then their is little point in trying to like them, or indeed to be liked BY them.
There are, of course, others reasons people won’t like you.
Other Reasons
People may be envious or jealous of you (similar, but really quite different, emotions). They may fear you. They may feel superior to you. Whatever their reasons, which are MOST LIKELY to be quite irrational, you must accept that not everybody who meets you is going to like you. AND THAT’S OKAY!
The lesson to be learned here is that it’s okay not to be liked by everybody, because YOU don’t like everybody. It’s human nature, learned over many eons; people group together if they are LIKE each other and they do this for a variety of good reasons (which I can’t go into here).
Don’t Be Needy
You must NOT NEED everybody to like you. It’s NOT POSSIBLE anyway. If something isn’t possible, why fret over it? Do you fret over the fact that you can’t jump out of a window, flap your arms and fly? NO, you don’t, and that’s because you know that it simply isn’t possible.
There is absolutely NO POINT in worrying about things that you CANNOT CONTROL!
Don’t waste another ounce of worry (yes, worry is still measured in ounces; it hasn’t gone metric yet) over people liking you. Help your friends and help your customers………..who one day may become your friends.
Luke.
If this helped you, please feel free to buy me a cup of coffee.......leaded of course!!!
