Adapt Or Perish - That’s A GOOD Thing!

Scary?

Well, it largely depends on your MINDSET.  Many (in fact MOST) people are completely terrified of change.  I’ve seen it all my life, and have, on occasion, been one of those people.  Not any more.  You see, you can easily spend your life in fear of change, but, in reality, it’s pointless.

What’s IS The Point?

My point is this; humans have been changing the dynamics of the planet for a VERY long time, and the RATE at which it is changing is increasing.  In other words, things are changing EXPONENTIALLY.

Your ONLY way to survive, let alone PROSPER in the coming years is to adapt yourself to it.  Well, there IS another way, but it involves you having so much influence that YOU change the world to suite yourself….but this is so unlikely, I’m not going to comment further on it.

And by the way, I don’t mean that in some distant time your CHILDREN will have to adapt, I mean YOU, because this is all happening NOW, and it started, in earnest, about 20 years ago.  Technology and in particular, the internet, has changed ALL the rules.

How?

How can you adapt yourself for the coming years?  Well, other than the obvious, LEARNING, you need to adjust how you THINK about things, in particular, how the world is GOING TO BE, and what YOUR place can be in it.

For example, there is so much information out there (and there will be more by the time I finish writing this post) that information by itself will be virtually worthless.  No, instead, COLLATING relevant information for a particular market segment (your audience or readership) and presenting it in an understandable way is what will have value.

Education System Failure

The current educational systems in most of the world does not prepare people for the REAL World and I don’t think it ever really has (my wife has her doctorate in Education, so I have to tread carefully here, especially if I want to have a nice weekend!!!). This leaves a HUGE gap in the market that needs filling.

By the time a university student finishes his or her education, MOST of what they learned is outdated.  This applies especially to technology, but most other areas of learning will be affected also BECAUSE of technology (including law and medicine).

If you are currently employed by a large corporation, start investigating ways to make money from home, because in all likelihood, your job won’t be around much longer.

Stress

We all have stress and we must learn to deal with it.  You can CHOOSE to deal with the stress from having to adapt, or you can deal with the stress of not being able to make money.  Either way, you MUST deal with stress. Besides, there are always ways to deal with stress; the ones I suggest are psychological techniques, rather than relying on chemicals.

Change Is Inevitable

Because change will happen and indeed, are happening on a MASSIVE scale RIGHT NOW, you must develop new skills.  You must know how to work from home, on the internet.  You must learn to be an entrepreneur; that is, you learn how to see wants and needs, and you learn how to fill those wants and needs.

START NOW.  Next year may be too late.
