Google’s Conversion Optimizer
So what’s all the fuss about Google’s new conversion optimizer? Well, firstly let me tell you that you need to already understand (and be using) Adwords, which, if you don’t know about it, is Google’s Pay Per Click advertising model.
Adwords
Optimizer was created by Google to help Adwords customers get MORE out of their account, but letting you use your conversion tracking data (which is part of their service), to help you increase your ROI (return on investment) and therefore your profits.
How?

You BID with Costs Per Acquisition (Maximum CPA), so you are telling Google how much you are willing to pay them per acquistion. This could be an actual purchase, or simply an opt-in to your list, depending on what you are trying to achieve with each click. The effect is that Google is becoming something like an affiliate for you.
Other Benefit
There’s also another benefit to using conversion optimizer in tha it will most likely make running your PPC campaigns easier, because it does a lot of the day to day work for you, like managing your bids.
Caveat
There IS a small caveat to using conversion optimizer; you MUST have 30 conversions within the past 30 days. In other words, if you aren’t already IN the game and making things work, don’t bother with it until you ARE making conversions from your PPC campaign.

There’s also a guide available in pdf format, which is available here. Oh, and finally, I forgot to mention, it’s FREE as an Adwords customer!
