Windows Live Writer
A very quick post today to tell you about some really good free software from those nice people at Microsoft. If you’re into blogging like me, but don’t want the bother of having your own domain, you can use Microsoft Live Writer to easily maintain your blog.
What’s So Good About It?
Live Writer is installed onto our PC/Mac and is compatible with all of the major blogging platforms such as WordPress, Blogger, Live Journal, TypePad, Sharepoint etc. You can write and edit your posts directly in Live Writer and then simply upload it directly to your blogging service when it looks just how you want it to.
Media
Live Writer also allows you to insert photographs AND lets you add borders and some other effects, such as putting the images into a photo-album. You can also add videos from MSN (obviously), SoapBox and Youtube with almost no effort. Embedding videos (though easy anyway) is made simpler still, and you can align and resize them until you’re happy with the result.
Plugins
Finally, Live Writer comes with some very nice and extremely useful plugins already available, so you can super-charge your blogging experience.
So, if you’re not into self-hosting but want to blog to the world, this is definitely something you want to consider.
