As you know, I’m always on the lookout for good software to help me run my online business. I particularly like free software and what I’m finding more each day is that the day is just about over before I’ve had time to achieve the goals I’ve set for the day. So the software I look for is mostly to make me more efficient, particularly where my time is concerned. Hey, I’m running out of it like the rest of you guys!
Free Service
I’ve found a really great service that is free (though you can donate if you choose to do so to keep the service technically free) called TweetLater.
What Is It?
The service is designed to help people use Twitter more efficiently. Now though Twitter is really designed to tell your friends what you’re doing AT THAT MOMENT each day, Twitter is now being used in a variety of ways, one of which is to tout your products to people. Now, while I don’t really like that aspect of it, it CAN help you to find like-minded people who actually MIGHT one day buy something from you.
Why Tweet?
Now, I’m always tempted (childishly) to write “well, I’m Tweeting of course!”, that gets old very quickly…..VERY quickly! So people use Twitter for the most part just to let friends and ‘followers’ know what they’re up to during the day. It means you can let ALL of your followers (who may one day become a real friend) know what you’re doing, rather than phoning each of them and having a ten minute chat about it.
What It Can Do For You

TweetLater is a service that let’s you tell people not what you’re really doing AT THAT MOMENT, but rather, what you want them to THINK you’re doing at that moment! Sounds a bit odd, right? It sure does. But it can also do other things or you. You can:
- Monitor the Twitter tweet stream and periodically email you a digest of the tweets that contain those keywords
- keep your Twitter stream ticking over with new tweets even when you’re not in front of your computer
- Send automatic thank you notes to new followers
- select to vet new followers (that is, approve, block or ignore them)
- schedule and publish tweets that don’t go to Twitter, they go to your personal tweet stream, (which is available in RSS, XML and Javascript)
- and………………………a whole lot more!
I’m sure that TweetLater’s owners intend to monetize (funny word that!) the site at some future time, but for now, why don’t you give this free service a try? If you “Tweet”, then I think you’ll find it useful.
Luke.
