Spying on your competitors is often considered ‘Black Hat’ in the SEO world, but hey, business people have been finding out what they customers have been doing and replicating it for decades, so much so, that now it’s considered normal practice.

In my opinion it’s really all about ANALYSING what other websites do that make them succesful, so shouldn’t really be called spying at all. Let’s face it, the Japanese car makers wouldn’t be where they are now if it wasn’t for a lot of work done by Europeans and Americans 90 years ago………..they just do it better now!
New Tool
There’s a great new tool, or more accurately, a SERIES of tools called SEO Quake, that allows you to do a lot of in depth analyses “on the fly”, including of course, figuring out what each website’s page rank is.
They also offer some other plugins, one of which is the Google Plugin. This allows you to work with Googles Search Engine Results Page to manipulate the data to be more easily used. Let’s face it, nobody likes sifting through hundreds of results looking for highly ranked sites.
Firefox Or IE
It’s available for both Internet Explorer AND Firefox, so the two main web-browsers are covered. I don’t know if they have plans to include Google Chrome or Safari; time will tell.
